Best Practices Project

Grant-funded from 2001 to 2006, the Best Practices Project was a collaboration between Kendal Outreach, Pennsylvania Department of Health, Morrison Informatics, and Hebrew Senior-Life to study, measure and provide proven best practices to Pennsylvania long-term care providers with the goal of improving resident outcomes and care quality. Under the oversight of Kendal Outreach, three nurse educators provided consultation and training to nursing facility staff on five best practices protocols, including:

  • Self-care (prevention of decline in two of the activities of daily living)
  • Managing pain
  • Managing depression
  • Preventing pressure ulcers
  • Managing urinary incontinence
